The Film Talk: What to Watch this Halloween

  • Jeff Draughon · 1 month ago
A fun batch of Halloween recommendations, but ... if you’re feeling old school and live in the D.C. Metro area, I would recommend a full-fledged theatrical viewing of the original 1922 NOSFERATU, courtesy of the AFI Silver Theatre in Silver Springs, MD. This Friday night, the AFI Silver will host two showings of Murnau's masterpiece, with live musical accompaniment provided by the ensemble Silent Orchestra (keyboardist Carlos Garza and percussionist Rich O'Meara).

The invaluable AFI Silver started this a few years ago, and now it’s an annual Halloween event. The tickets are rather pricey ($20), but the experience of seeing a good print of NOSFERATU on the big screen with a live ensemble is truly extraordinary. Highly recommended.
