The Film Talk: The Film Talk - Part 29 - Hello Wall-E!

Coincidentally while "Hurricane Dolly" hits the coast....hello dolly, indeed.

Thoroughly enjoyed the show, anticipating Wall-E even more now, especially after Gareth's Blade Runner comparisons.

In relation to The Dark Night (which I may even get chance to see before your review - will wonders never cease!) I couldn't help but notice that the last time The Joker was on our screens 19 years ago was also the last time Indiana Jones was in cinemas too. An odd co-incidence.

And speaking of Dark things - You've both mentioned Dark City favorably before, were you aware of the director's cut that's just been/just about to be released? Do you know anything about it, is it worth getting hold of a copy?

Not sure about the video comment thing - certainly not at this hour of the day, I have bed hair!!

Phew! Finally caught up with all the episodes. Thought this was an excellent one (well done for keeping it under 40mins). I entirely agree that WALL-E is a great film and so much better than the dissapointing Ratatouille and Cars. As well as the films you mentioned I think WALL-E owes a lot to 'Silent Running'.

Yeah we shoulda talked about 'Silent Running' in a bit of detail - good film - kind of - though the Joan B. songs drove me CRAZY.

    Bed hair or not!

Wow - the technology works! :)

+ yes a Dark City + old favs + fantasy cinema = would be a good show :) the Dr. Professor should chime in here (with a video message, even if it's from Sean Penn).

Thanks for your comments guys - I should track down a copy of this Dark City director's cut myself. Looking forward to the Bat show.

    Heath Ledger as the Joker
  • Tom · 1 year ago
Oh no Jett, now I'm going to be watching this film spending 2 and a half hours trying to guess who Heath is being! It'll be like watching one of those CGI movies and being more preoccupied with identifying who's providing the voices than with the actual plot itself! Ah well, I shall have fun all the same.

May have to make sure I see the film before listening to the show, which is not something I'm often able to do.
